Cookie Policy

Last updated: 28 July 2026

This policy describes cookies, browser storage and similar technologies used by Learning Portuguese on the website and within the Android WebView.

1. Your choice

Essential technologies operate without optional consent because they are needed for requested functions such as login, security and saved preferences. Analytics and marketing technologies are disabled until you choose them. Use the Cookie settings button to change or withdraw a choice at any time.

2. Categories

  • Essential: WordPress login/session and security cookies, consent choice, account forms, membership state and the Android-app marker needed to provide the correct app interface.
  • Preferences and learning storage: colour theme, Lessons and Smart Review browser progress, interface preferences and session-protection timestamps. Signed-in learning progress may also be saved to the account database so it works across sessions.
  • Analytics (optional): Google Site Kit/Google Analytics may measure visits, pages, interactions, traffic source and technical information after analytics consent.
  • Marketing (optional): Meta Pixel may measure page visits and relevant conversion events after marketing consent.
  • External media and services: YouTube, Google Login, Stripe, Google Play and other external destinations may set their own storage when you choose to interact with those features.

3. Main first-party technologies

  • lp_cookie_preferences: remembers essential/analytics/marketing choices for up to 12 months.
  • WordPress authentication and security cookies: maintain a signed-in session; duration depends on the login choice and security configuration.
  • lp_native_app and equivalent local storage: identify the Android experience and may remain for up to 12 months.
  • Theme local storage: remembers the selected website or Android colour theme until cleared.
  • Lesson, Smart Review and session local storage: maintains local progress or interface/session state until replaced, reset or cleared.

4. Third-party retention

Google, Meta, YouTube, Stripe and other providers control the exact names and lifetimes of their own cookies or identifiers. Their policies explain those periods and controls. Optional Google Analytics and Meta Pixel tags on this site are loaded only for the relevant consent category.

5. Android app storage

The Android app uses device storage for the daily reminder schedule, notification permission state and vibration preference. Those are app/device settings rather than advertising cookies. Clearing app data or uninstalling the app may remove local settings.

6. Browser and device controls

You can also delete or block storage in the browser, clear Android app data, revoke notification permission or uninstall the app. Blocking essential storage can prevent login, progress synchronisation or preferences from working.

7. Changes and contact

This list will be updated when technologies materially change. Questions can be sent to contato@learningportuguese.pt.
